01.06.2007 - Competition Authorities Agree to Develop Merger and Unilateral Conduct Guidance, Emphasize Co-operation, Outreach, Implementation
Competition authorities from around the world have agreed to work on a new set of recommendations on key substantive merger issues, produce guidance in the area of unilateral conduct, and promote further co-operation in anti-cartel enforcement. The decisions were made at the International Competition Network’s (ICN) 6th Annual Conference, which ended today.

“Principles of economic freedom and competition are leading factors in building efficient economy in Russia, and in the subjects of the Russian Federation, including Moscow”,- said Moscow Major , Yury Luzhkov in his welcoming address to the participants and guests of the 6th Annual Conference of the International Competition Network (ICN). Therefore the themes of the Conference, added Mr Luzhkov, are very special for Russia, and Moscow.

In her introductory speech at the 6th Annual of the International Competition Network (ICN) Conference, the Commissioner responsible for Competition Policy in the European Commission, Mrs Neelie Kroes, gave her high assessment of the work of Federal Antimonopoly Service “on competition development and control of antimonopoly infringements in course of economic integration”.

On May 30, 2007, the 6th Annual Conference of the International Competition Network (ICN) opened in Moscow. The main global event of the year in the area of competition has brought together in Russia about five hundred representatives of antimonopoly agencies from various countries. Opening the conference, the Head of the Federal antimonopoly service Mr. Igor Artemiev has testimonialized to the participants and the guests of the conference the greeting received from the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin

Cape Town, South Africa, May 5, 2006 - The International CompetitionNetwork (ICN) ended its fifth annual conference today in Cape Town,South Africa, with techniques to improve competition law enforcement inareas such as cartels and multi-jurisdictional merger review, and byestablishing a new working group to address unilateral conduct.

Following the Annual Conference in Bonn, the ICN Steering Group has approved a pilot program that seeks to facilitate contacts between competition agencies in order to make the expertise of more experienced ICN members more readily available to less experienced agencies.
